Protect the Adirondacks, the largest nonprofit in the community, is dedicated to the future of Adirondack Park. In recent years, the group has helped expand the High Peaks Wilderness area, and helped establish both the Boreas Ponds motorless wilderness area, and the Essex Chain Lakes motorless primitive area.
